nanaslyth:
The Slytherin nodded as he listened to the professor’s words, all the while cradling the baby and rocking her gently, while making cute faces. It must be hard raising a child, judging by the way Kahi spoke. But it all seemed to be worth it, as Kahi always seemed to be joyous whenever she was with her baby. “It looks like you’re doing a good job, then”, she commented, looking to her with a positive nod. She wished she had a mother like Kahi. Her own mother was controlling and strict, and thus, she never really had a proper childhood. In a way, Nana looked up to the professor as a mother, and though it sounded so cruel, she’d gladly trade her mother for Kahi. Hyejin was a lucky girl. “Of course”, Nana replied, and as she waited for Kahi to come back, the baby began crying. She panicked, and it was seen in her eyes. She began cradling the baby girl a little more, but to no avail. “Gosh I’m so bad at this”, she muttered. Was she really that scary? Perhaps. Sighing, she kept on trying to make the baby happy, all the while waiting for Kahi to come back.
Kahi remembers when she first got news of her pregnancy and her mother, and siblings, would constantly tell her to make sure that this is what she wanted — having a child apparently wasn’t the walk in the park that it is portrayed as in muggle movies and television. They would often tell her about the late nights they’d have to endure and the like. But they would always tell her how worthwhile, fulfilling and amazing the entire experience was so Kahi never really did worry too much about it. Dari was a great father, too, so everything was a lot easier than she’d ever expected. “Thank you,” It was one of her favourite compliments. Not on her teaching, not on her looks, not on her dancing, or her husband but the way that they’re raising their daughter. That was what she liked hearing. In the next room, the professor could faintly hear the sound of tears, rushing herself to gather the baby’s things before venturing into the room again. Nana was mature enough to know how to handle a crying baby, right? She thought optimistically, reaching to place the lid onto the bottle before walking into the room once more, the baby roaring in a fit of tears in the Slytherin’s arms. “She’s just hungry” Kahi reassured the student, making sure she knew that it wasn’t her fault. “Here, give it a try” Hyejin quietened upon the sight of her mother although she suspected that the toddler had spotted the bottle of milk instead. Either way, Kahi offered the clear bottle to Nana. She was a natural, so far anyway, so having Nana feed the child wouldn’t be too much trouble for her.
